I worked this problem and got f(x) 1/(3 – x) ; which is undefined. Did anyone get any thing different? Your help is always appreciated!

  1. Well, firstly the limit can be re-written as: limit of [x – 3/ (x+3)(x – 3)]; lim x -> 3 which can be simiplified to: limit of [1/ x+3]; lim x -> 3

    Hence the limit is 1/6.

  2. (x – 3) / (x² – 9) = (x – 3) / [(x – 3)(x + 3)] = 1 / (x + 3)

    lim [1 / (x + 3)] as x –> 3 = 1/6
