In the past 24 hours our Windows SBS 2003 server has twice experienced an unexpected shutdown, resulting in the server going into a power off/standby state – not an OS standby.Upon restart (finger on the power button type), the usual “why did your server unexpectedly shutdown” messages occur; however, the event logs shows no indication of what might have caused this. I am migrating SBS 2003 to SBS 2008. I have followed the 81 page microsoft guidelines here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=52b7ea63-78af-4a96-811e-284f5c1de13b&displaylang=en and have run the migration prepartion tool which completed successfully and then requested a server reboot which I did.I created the SBSAnswerFile and saved it to USB memory stick. I have a client who is using Windows Server 2008 (Small Business Server), and using Windows Backup.What I need to do is configure the backup task so that, upon completion, it sends an email notifying the client of backup success or failure. I have been able to find that task in task scheduler, and even see where I can send an email…but I cannot find a way to make the content of the email different based on success or failure of the backup. So I took the hard drive and connected it to Windows7 pc.What I get is that I cannot access almost any file! Our WHSv1 file server is almost full, so I took an USB HDD that was lying around (ie: I was using it on another computer, data and partitions are there), and I went to the WHS console to add it to the storage pool.Surprisingly, the disk does not appear in the list, but if I connect via RDP, i can access it.What’s the problem?
