    windows-7 hard-drive diagnostic temporary-files
I’m having trouble understanding what is going on with my work PC. Whenever I boot it, it runs fine for a while, then starts to randomly show disk errors. The displayed error often contains the message “not enough storage is available to process this command”, although depending on the application that fails it can be different. This has happened for weeks now and is getting worse. This is what troubles me:It never seems to impact critical parts of the system (no BSOD, no freeze). Only some appli

    upgrade ssd diagnostic
I replaced my MacBook Pro optical drive with an Agility 3 SSD from OCZ, currently operating at SATA I speed only (it should run at SATA II speed, but that’s another story). After a clean install of Mac OS X Mountain Lion, I noticed a few problems that made the whole user experience nearly unbearable: constant beach ball cursors and unexpected freezes and pauses (up to one minute) when editting basic system preferences, copying files, using Safari, etc. Agility 3 SSDs have their own Trim manager,

A little over four years ago I built a PC with a Core 2 Quad Q6600 and 4GB of DDR2 800 ram. Not very good by today’s standards, but it has served its purpose well.Recently (within the last two to three weeks) I’ve been experiencing very strange issues. Most noticeably Chrome tabs crashing on every single page load. Being the new year I decided that a fresh install of Windows (7 x64 Professional) couldn’t hurt. I went ahead and reinstalled and everything was going great until a few days ago.The C

    virtualbox diagnostic
My configuration is — Linux (as host) using VirtualBox with 3 virtual machines — all Windows: XP, Vista, Windows 7. All virtual disks are on the same partition, all worked fine until today.Today XP and Vista works, but for Win7 — VB disables the start. So it is not the case, I start virtual machine and it crashes, but I cannot even start it, because start button for it is disabled. Virtual Box shows no info why. What’s more when I try to change any settings I get obscure message saying Failed

    windows-7 bsod diagnostic
I attempted to log into my workstation this morning only to discover, when the monitors woke up, that I had bluescreened. My Workstation is Windows 7 x64.The error message was:PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREABoy, that sounds bad. But then blue screens are always ominous. I rebooted and attempted to access the advanced options. I was taken to the windows error recovery menu, and my only options were to attempt “Startup Repair” or Start Windows Normally.Startup Repair starts. Eventually I get a sec

    linux wine diagnostic
I frequently want to run a windows app (usually a game) on my linux machines, the best way to do this is via wine, the windows emulator. The problem is that this is quite difficult to do. The apps frequently stall or crash with very little information to use in rectifying the problem. Does anyone have any useful ideas on how do pinpoint the problems/issues that windows apps run into on wine, particularly dll requirements? Many thanks, Gearoid.

    windows-7 windows bsod diagnostic
Possible Duplicate:PC Blue Screens and then instantly reboots. How do I stop this or find the error later? Sometimes I get a BSOD screen for a split second and I have no chance to see the cause of it. It also happens when I am not at the computer. The event log doesn’t have enough information. Is there a way or tool that captures the screen when it happens so I can look at the cause later.I already did a memory diagnostics test so that’s not the problem.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ50, and sometimes when I am using it the system crashes with a black screen. The only way to recover is with a reboot using a button on the laptop (not via software of course). On boot-up I’m presented with a screen asking if I wanted to start Windows in safe mode or continue normally. I always select to start normally. After the system started I looked at the Event Viewer and saw the following message: The previous system shutdown at8:06:43 PM on 5/1/2011 was unexpected

So i’ve been facing this issue for a few weeks.I just came out of an issue with my GPU where it was too clogged with dust, causing the temperature to hit around 100 where it would crash the computer, i realized the issue and now my temps are at 60ish and everything was fine for a while. That may not be connected to this but i thought i’d share anyway. crash hardware-failure diagnostic
I’ve purchased a system last week and ever since, it’s been behaving erratically, not posting and random freeze ups in windows when it does post (with the inability to post right after). I’ve stripped it down to just the motherboard, the CPU, and the PSU, along with four sticks of memory. The problem that I run into is that it can take the system up to 48 hours to exhibit this freezing issue, so i’m wondering if there is a more decisive, and faster, way of saying “this hardware is defective” out

    crash diagnostic
For the last few weeks my PC (pretty old P4 with Windows XP SP3) has been crashing randomly. It just suddenly reboots instantaneously. It feels hardware-related but I wasn’t able to determine whether it’s software or hardware that causes it. I did notice a pattern though: it’s more likely to crash whenever I copy a lot of files over network or have uTorrent running, but sometimes it crashes when I am not doing anything with it.Copying files from it over the network causes it to crash within 1 to

My file server just went belly up and I can’t seem to figure out why. Perhaps I’m naive but when these things happen I can typically look through my System, Application or Security Event Viewer log and find the culprit – but no luck this time. While I was out of the office I received an Icinga notification stating that the E:\ drive on my server was warning that it no information was available for that drive. I logged onto the server to see the E:\ drive was there, but there was no “storage graph

I run a LAMP stack on Ubuntu server. Twice today it has ground to a halt and required a hard reboot. Prior to this it had been stable for many months. It has been about a fortnight since the last change to the configuration and even this was minor.Rummaging around, I found this in syslog a few minutes before a failed cron email alerted me to the outage:Sep 22 18:14:33 rfb CRON[4912]: (tom) CMD (/usr/share/rfb-scripts/rrdtool-updater.sh) Sep 22 18:15:40 rfb CRON[4923]: (tom) CMD (/usr/share/rfb-s

We have a few DELL 1950 servers. One of those servers has CentOS6.3 and it’s randomly rebooting, so I suspected it was hardware (no log generated). The other four servers do not randomly reboot. We ran memtest86+ on the five servers and on three of them memtest86+ crashes (displaying an odd and colorful screen, like if a video card failed).I tested an old memtest86 (not +) and none of the servers crashed. I also tested other RAM testing utilities, with no tool failing.Have any of you guys experie

    lion hard-drive disk-space diagnostic
I have few GBs (5,38 GB at the moment) of free space on my hard disk (MacBook Pro 2010, 10.7.5). Few hours after I turn on/reboot my computer, the free space slowly goes down to zero and the system hangs. I’ve found out that these 2 programs cause this problem: xCode, Google Chrome (both programs are memory-consuming I believe), although I think the problem is related to OS itself.I’ve found similar questions but they all seem to be related to vanishing some of the disk space, where in my case I

Is there any way to identify the speed of your memory through software? I am on Fedora 9 and looking to find out the speed of the DIMM’s I have in there currently.I have tried a ‘lshw’ but it doesnt display the speed. I know the motherboard supports 3 different speeds, but I dont know whats in there and dont want to turn off the box.Any ideas? Thanks,EDIT: I have found the ram to be ’30 ns’ according to dmidecode. How can it be 33 MHz if the board only supports 400, 533, 667 Mhz RAM? EDIT 2: Are
