java linux dns jre ubuntu-9.04
I have an number of Java applications installed on an Ubuntu64 9.04 PC, and none of them can resolve domain names (there are multiple JRE’s too – some of them are IBM products). If I put the domain name in the hosts file with it’s associated IP address, then the Java apps work for those domains only. Every other non Java program – like ping, firefox, etc – work just fine with domain resolution. I’ve tried to disable DNS caching in the java.security file – for all of my JREs – but that didn’t wor

java networking dns system
I have been struggling to find the “description” of the computer on which my Java application is running. What I’m after is the name used for DNS when advertising my computer on the local network (“iMac Mattijs” in the screen shots below). On Windows XP, this name can be found here: Control Panel -> System -> Computer Name -> Computer Description. On Mac OS 10.6, this name can be found here: System Preferences -> Sharing -> Computer NameThe methods below don’t deliver the name I’m looking for. Ha

java silverlight networking dns applet
I’m trying to create a Silverlight application that gathers network information, similar to that of running the command ‘ipconfig /all’ from the command line. I simply want to display the client’s IP address, default gateway, and the DNS server(s). If the DNS server is pointed to their router, then I need a way to get the DNS server being used by the router. Any suggestions? I’ve looked a little into WMI but with no success. Silverlight is simply too compressed.I have not done a lot in Java, but

ssl dns office-interop
In an Outlook Add-On, when I provide the URL for a remote web service as:http://remote.webservice.comit verifies right away a successful connection. But if I use:https://remote.webservice.comit hangs for several minutes and finally returns an error that it couldn’t be reached. The log file for the add-on shows:System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed outat MyAddOn.OutlookReferences.CheckCredentials(Exception ex, Int32& count)where MyAddOn.OutlookReferences is an instance of Microsoft

java dns inetaddress
I added a static DNS entry into my router, binding some IP address to builds-mac. I then attempted to look up its IP address using Java:import java.net.InetAddress; import java.net.UnknownHostException;public class Testcase {public static void main(String[] args) throws UnknownHostException{System.out.println(“got: ” + InetAddress.getByName(“builds-mac”));} }This failed with:java.net.UnknownHostException: builds-macat java.net.Inet4AddressImpl.lookupAllHostAddr(Native Method)at java.net.InetAddr

dns active-directory group-policy netlogon
Situation:Co-located DCs connected by T1 to client working location. The T1 is averaging at about 2/3 usage. All 1 Active Directory. I am trying to deploy a start-up script to clients at the working location though GPO. It seems to work on some computers and not on others, but consistently. For example, it will always work on PC1, and always NOT work on PC2. Even though at the same location . I turned on netlogon logging and below is what one of the “not working” PCs are reporting…Once they lo

dns winbind nsupdate
We are running an Active Directory. The hosts joined to the domain are a mix of Windows machines joined natively and Linux machines joined using winbind. All hosts have statically configured IP addressesOne of the linux machines has 4 ethernet interfaces configured, one of which is a virtual bridge for qemu using a non-routable IPv4 address (192.168.x). This machine registers its IP address in the AD DNS automatically, which is good, except that the virtual machine interface is also registered.

windows windows-server-2008 dns active-directory
I have an Active Directory setup with two sites and three DC’s – call them 1A, 1B, and 2. DCs 1A and 2 are Win2008R2 and DC 1B is Win2k. So the domain functional level is Windows 2000 native. The two sites are connected via IP transport/VPN tunnel.I recently promoted DC 2 so that I could have a DNS server at site 2 and ensure name resolution even if the VPN tunnel failed. Everything has gone to plan except for this pesky error I have been seeing occur every 15 minutes:Preferred bridgehead server
