I have been having a problem with the Yahoo MailPlus POP3 server since they upgraded (3-6-08).?-Collection of common programming errors

  • dblsixteenout I am using Windows Mail with Vista. Recently, Yahoo updated the POP3 server. I had a message freeze and used WMUtil to clean everything up and make sure the mail database is not corrupt. I have updated the SMTP settings and can send fine. However, WM will not connect with the POP3 server. I have checked all of my settings and all is fine. I have tried to add “plus” to the pop3 address similar to the SMTP address and nothing helps. here is the following error: An unknown error has occurred. account: ‘pop.mail.yahoo.com’, Server: ‘pop.mail.yahoo.com’, Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x80004005

    The only thing that I can think is that the POP3 server is down. Does anybody have any suggestions or information?


  • degegrw DO NOT USE SSL – Do not use secure authentication

    If all other is correct, should connect fine.
