Before I jump headlong into C#…I’ve always felt that C, or maybe C++, was best for developing drivers on Windows. I’m not keen on the idea of developing a driver on a .NET machine.But .NET seems to be the way MS is heading for applications development, and so I’m now wondering:Are people are using C# to develop drivers? May be I’m missing something (Surely I do) but I don’t understand a thing :Each brand new version of Visual Studio is shipped with a particular msvcrtxx (msvcr100.dll, msvrct.dll, …) Right. Except the fact it leads, often, to the famous “dll hell”, I still don’t understand why the “Windows Driver Kit” continues to produce binaries linked against the old MSVCRT.DLL !?

I’ve been thinking about starting a new graphics project and I want to use Java. Java has wrappers for all of the relevant GL functionality but I wonder how many people, including casual users, actually have decent GL drivers installed. By decent, I mean somewhat stable and fairly new (GL 1.5 support would probably do although the GLSL support that comes with 2.0 would be great). The difference is, I do not have Catalyst Control Center installed and wish to avoid it as much as possible. It’s a memory and CPU hog, and tends to leave corrupt installations which make deinstallation or upgrading a pain

I think the question is answered here but I’m still wondering if what is the difference between the units it is referring to.For example, a GTX 570 has 480 CUDA cores, while the ATI equivalent HD 6970 has roughly 1536 Stream processor. It’s quiet confusing how they have the same meaning yet different number but equivalent power.

Now after the last upgrade, my custom settings are not used anymore and I cannot change them using the gnome-display-properties.The mirror function keeps being active even when I un-select it. I have a performance problem with my Mobility Radeon HD 54__ graphics card using default open source drivers. I’m not talking about games but non-Full HD videos. Occasionally video freezes for a short while (sound remains unaffected) and then everything is fine for another while. Sorry for my explanation but I couldn’t find words to describe that behaviour.
