linux boot uefi samsung
I bought a Samsung series 9 laptop with 64-bit Windows 8 pre-installed and wish to install Linux (probably Ubuntu 13.04 when it comes out ext week, but also considering mint 14). Now there have been multiple reports of firmware problems and laptops bricking up irrevocably when installing Ubuntu when UEFI is enabled. The standard advice seems to be to update the BIOS to the latest version and then disable UEFI mode to reduce the chance of bricking. My questions: What are the disadvantages of do

Later, I turn on my notebook and connect my phone, but in Network Manager I cannot find my connection. So I choose modify connections from NM and I delete the connection, then I connect again my phone with USB cable and again start the automatic procedure to set the connection. Again I connect to int

windows-8 boot samsung
I have a Samsung Series 9 that I needed to do a system restore on. After restore everything looked good so I rebooted it and it went into this endless loop. It shows the Samsung logo, then goes into a Windows 8 “Preparing Automatic Repair” screen, then into a BSOD, then reboots. Over and over and over. I have tried getting into the BIOS to see if I can boot it from a USB stick but it goes into the Windows screens immediately so it never reads the keyboard. Any idea how I can fix this thing?

12.10 dual-boot windows-8 uefi samsung
I have been reading about the issue of Samsung laptops bricking when attempted booting from live USB. I have Samsung Series 7 NP700Z5C (-S02UB to be specific) laptop. It came with Windows 8 preloaded. Some posts claim that they disabled secure boot and installed Ubuntu in EFI mode. On the otherhand comments on this bug report state the issue to be with UEFI implementation and not with Secure Boot.I really want to dual Ubuntu with Windows 8. Can someone help with UEFI mode installation process ?

I know there are many questions similar to this, I’ve been reading them and searching for a solution for 2 days but no luck so far.I have a Samsung NP550P5C laptop and just installed Ubuntu 12.04.3 on it. When I first installed there was nothing wrong, all the function keys, like brightness and volume adjustment, were working perfectly fine. Then I ran the updates including the kernel update. I have a Samsung QX411 laptop with a nonremovable battery with Ubuntu 13.04 and Windows 7 dual-booted. Today when I was on YouTube with Chrome, I had a kernel panic, giving me a black screen of death. I’m very new to using Ubuntu, but switched to Ubuntu for the stability. The keyboard was completely unresponsive, and holding the power button down would not even turn off the computer. I called Samsung, and they had no answer for the issue of turning their computer off.
