uninstall windows-8-preview
Say, for instance, I don’t like this Windows 8 consumer preview and that I downloaded, agreed to terms and installed it on my machine. How do I get rid of it? I want to go back to what I had before with all my data intact. Is this possible? I installed it right over top my current installation rather than on another partition or perhaps a backup machine. What can I do?

windows-8-preview modern-ui internet-explorer-10
The Metro version of IE 10 has a nifty – Pin to Start button. The benefit is that one can have a whole column of tiles to one’s favourite websites. However, the Desktop version of IE 10 has no such option to create a tile of a website that I am visiting.Question: Is there indeed a ‘Pin to Start’ option for the DESKTOP version of IE 10, but I just cannot find it?

wpf osx windows-8-preview multi-touch parallels
Can I use Microsoft WPF(4) for multitouch when running Windows through Parallels on an OSX machine? When I run Windows8 on my Mac the multitouch with touchpad works. But if I program my own WPF application multitouch doesn’t work.Longer: I have a Mac running OSX. On it I have Parallels running a Windows8 virtual machine. This Windows8 machine works nicely with multitouch by the Mac touch pad, swiping, zooming etc. Then I create a WPF application with the templates that come with Visualstudio11

windows-8-preview transparency
I ran an app which disabled transparency in Windows 8 then crashed out leaving my UI without trapsnarency on windows (but still transparent on the taskbar).I tried restarting to resolve the issue but it didn’t, I then went on this site and tried all the suggestions and found that the ‘enable transparency ‘option is not available in the colour location and ‘enable transparent glass’ option is not available in ‘performance options’.Any ideas how I can get transparency back?

installation windows-8-preview autocad
I’ve been using Autodesk’s AutoCAD and other Autodesk programs on Windows 7 for quite some time. They’re great programs, especially with them being free for education. So naturally I wanted to use them in Windows 8. Unfortunately, the installer didn’t work, failing to install every time I tried. Here’s the error:Is it possible to install these on Windows 8 Consumer Preview or should I just boot into Windows 7?P.S. Please do not tell me that I’m using pre-release software. I know. I’m the kind of p

freeze windows-8-preview debug
I’m currently diving into C# and wanted to play around with the new Metro-styled-applications introduced with Windows 8, so I updated my Windows 7 to Windows 8 Consumer Preview. The problem I’m facing right now is, that the system freezes after 3-5 minutes. It does not take any input from the keyboard or mouse and it does not recover (at least not in less then 10 minutes).Since I have a background in Linux, I’d like to find some information about the cause of the freeze, but I have no idea where

windows-7 drivers graphics-card nvidia windows-8-preview
I was running a 64-bit version of Windows 7 Professional and sometime last week I decided to give Windows 8 Release Preview a go, and so I downloaded and installed it with no problems. I did find that I had to reinstall drivers for my nVidia GeForce 555M GT, so I went online and downloaded the recommended 302.80 drivers. I didn’t notice any problems. Then, a couple of days later, since I was in the mood to update things, I decided to give the beta 304.79 drivers a go. After this, I started t

windows crash windows-8-preview modern-ui
After installing Win8 x64 RC, Metro apps worked correctly, but desktop OpenGL apps were slow and unresponsive. I installed the latest Win8 nVidia drivers, and the OpenGL apps started working correctly. At the same time, because of annoying permission messages, I changed the C:\ drive and all its files ownerships to my user, and gave it full permission.I restarted my pc after installing the drivers, and now Metro apps only show the splash screen, then crash.I tried installing other versions of th
