samsung-galaxy-s launcher samsung-touchwiz
I was attracted by the hardware specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S.However, I don’t like the default TouchWiz skin developed by Samsung. I’d prefer to use the native Android UI, as in the Nexus S and similar devices. Is it possible for me to perform “self installation” of the stock Android OS, after I bought the Samsung Galaxy S? If yes, how? Will I void the warranty of my phone by doing this?

samsung-galaxy-s wi-fi services processes
Occassionally my Wi-Fi goes into this weird state where the phone “thinks” I’m connected, but the connection simply doesn’t work. Apps still seem to think I have connectivity, though they can’t actually connect to anything, and the status bar still shows that I’m connected to Wi-Fi. Turning Wi-Fi off and back on resolves the issue, and this occurs on multiple networks. It seems sort of like whatever service manages the Wi-Fi connection gets killed occasionally. It usually happens when I’ve bee

I have an SGS with CM10 installed. The file manager and Apollo, both of which come with CM10 by default, are having issues reading the SD card.File Manager needs SU permissions to see it.Apollo just crashes when I try to open a file from it.Other File Manager apps have no issue. My PC sees both internal and external memory. Winamp and Play Music have indexed songs from the external SD card and can play them.Any idea where the problem might be?Thank you.

2.3-gingerbread samsung-galaxy-s boot system-freeze
I have a Samsung Galaxy S with stock Android 2.3.3 (with carrier modifications, regretfully).Usually, when I reboot the phone, it shows the boot animation for a few seconds, then goes to the lock screen while it finishes booting. Every once in a while (though more often lately than it used to), the boot animation screen gets stuck for about 5 minutes before showing me the lock screen. This happens both on clean boots (i.e. shutting it down from the power button menu and then restarting) as well

2.2-froyo samsung-galaxy-s reboot
I’ve bought a brand new Galaxy S just several weeks ago and so far my expectations are not met. I’ve never used a PDA before, so I expected it to be a full power computing machine in a hand. 🙂 But here’s what I’ve found out (and corresponding questions):sometimes (haven’t figured or experimented to find out the proper steps to reproduce yet) it simply reboots without any message, notice or any event alarm some apps may suspend the device, which can be solved by forced reboot (there even were se

samsung-galaxy-s sd-card music music-player mp3
When I successfully copy my music to my SD card, each song only plays for a second and then continues onto the next song. I was able to remedy this by copying each song over individually, but obviously this is untenable in the long-run. Might this be an issue with my new SD, am I copying too fast, or what else might it be?I was able to replicate this for skipping to the center of a song. I can’t hear an entire second, but it does seek to the center of the song and play a bit of it. If I try to g

samsung-galaxy-s linux usb-connection-mode
Is it possible to connect this device to Linux workstation over USB using MTP mode? I’ve tried a few times using different tools but no success. GMTP just don’t work, mtp-tools don’t work reliably, etc.

2.2-froyo samsung-galaxy-s reboot
On my Galaxy S Android 2.2 , I just got the ‘Activiate Starter took too long to respond . Force close ?’, which I did.Now the home screen is black. :)So I killed the starter program, so it seems. I should have looked at the message closer.Apart from turning off and restarting the phone, is it possible to restart the main program on a phone ?

samsung-galaxy-s music-player
Had my Samsung Galaxy S for a week or so, and my new micro-SD card arrived a few days ago, loaded all my music onto it, listened to various albums no problem. Now when I go into the built-in Music Player app and select the “Artists” tab at the top, Music Player closes with a “Not enough space in music database” error in the notification bar with a red warning triangle sign. All the other tabs (All, Playlists, Albums & Genres) work with no problem, but as soon as I hit the Artists tab it crashe

2.3-gingerbread samsung-galaxy-s factory-reset crashes
I am having the very-well known problem where com.android.phone keeps crashing all the time. I have done a factory reset and the problem had immediate effect just after the 1st reboot. So, we can exclude cases like crappy applications. I know that this is a common problem, but as far as I couldn’t find any working solution I decided to ask your help.My phone is Samsung Galaxy S, Gingerbread, rooted, no custom ROM installed.Any help appreciated.

samsung-galaxy-s crashes
Every time an app crashed on my Galaxy S my phone vibrates, 15-25 seconds later it vibrates a little longer, shows an error message and asks if I want to close the app or wait. I don’t know why this takes so long. I developed an app myself and noticed that the same app crashed instantly in the android simulator, while it would take a really long time to crash on my phone. (I don’t think it is because the pc is faster, because the app itself runs slower on the pc just the crashes are faster)That’

samsung-galaxy-s media-player mp3 mp3-player
All of a sudden my Samsung Galaxy S claims to not support mp3 files (the phone has been idle for a few hours, I did not touch anything). Ogg files however still play without problems. When this happens, no app can play mp3 files, e.g. my custom ring tone is not played anymore (it just vibrates as if it were muted). A reboot of the phone fixes the issue but within 3-4 days the problem comes back. It does not make a difference if files are stored on internal or external sd card. This also affects v

2.2-froyo samsung-galaxy-s sms calls
I own a rooted Samsung Galaxy S, running 2.2 Froyo. My service provider is AT&T.Every so often, around about once a week to once a month, my phone will unexpectedly, without warning, enter a state where it refuses to send or receive text messages and phone calls. The only way I’ve found to get my phone to work normally again is by rebooting.Specifically, if I try sending a text message, it just says sending but never actually seems to send anything. I don’t receive any text messages at all (

2.2-froyo samsung-galaxy-s sync doubletwist
I updated my Galaxy S Captivate on Rogers to Froyo last week. Debating whether the upgrade was worth it or not. There is one thing that’s been really irking me since I did the upgrade: DoubleTwist no longer successfully syncs songs from iTunes onto my Galaxy. On my PC, I set up the playlists I want to sync, and tell it to go, and it only syncs about 1/3 of the songs, telling me that the others failed with unspecified errors, and only 1 of the 5 playlists I selected appears to be able to play.I’v
