Report Viewer Control in Win Forms throws 'Object reference not set to an instance of an on object' error-Collection of common programming errors

Using Report Viewer control in MS Visual Basic 2008 win forms app and trying to access the report running in the SQL Server Reporting Service 2005 running in Windows 2003 and it is throwing just the error ‘Object reference not set to an instance of an object’.

Also tried applied the hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959595 on the SQL Server, but still getting the same exception in my win forms app.

Later on tried created the winforms app in windows 2003 server dev machine which ended with the same error. So basically report viewer accessing the report deployed in SQL Server reporting service 2005 in windows 2003 server is throwing the exception and I can only think that this is relevant to environment. So can someone suggest the patch/service for SQL Server 2005 or any other thing related to this.
