Cannot Debug: MSVSMON.EXE failed to start-Collection of common programming errors

  • msdn Im aware that there is another topic on this but it only confused me more (located here http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vsdebug/thread/10452212-c8f7-47d1-ba5b-96350e1bd616 ) first i thought it was VB so i did a “repair” on that program and still got the error, trying to repair the “remote debugger” says that a file is missing for the repairing to succeed. Error1311.source file not found C:\program files\microsoft visual studio 9.0\microsoft visual studio 2008 remote debugger light (x64) – ENU\rdbj_exp.cap That file does exist under the directory is says (only it’s in caps) I am using visual basic express edition 2008 for a school project on my windows 7 64-bit, only recently (as i turned it on this afternoon, so it WAS working but now it isn’t) i got an error indicating that the remote bugging couldn’t start. It had been working before and i am unsure as to why it isn’t now, the files exist. For another question that it may resolve the issue, there is an update for SQL server 2008 SP1 (i dont know whether it could fix, but im not keen on wasting 256Mb of downloads in the case it doesn’t) I receive the same errors in the other post but how he solved the issue is beyond my understanding. And when i try to “get”/”fix” the hotfixes files by following the update link it tells me to go to “windows update”  all programs in the start bar, there are no updates except for the one i mentioned earlier. Any help will be greatly apreciated! Thanks -Ben
