Can tan 90 degrees be calculated in a computer program?-Collection of common programming errors

  • No it cannot be calculated. Its not a stupid Question Sauron or whatever your name is. However like he said as the limit approaches 90 it approaches infinity. So really the answer is ‘NO’ it cannot be calculated in a computer as it is undefined.

    Hope this helps 🙂

  • Both the above answers are correct. Looking at other Sauron answers, Sauron appears to be a bit crabby this evening. To clarify a bit. As x tends to 90 from the left tan x tends to + infinity. As x tends to 90 from the right tan x tends to – infinity.

So to repeat a CPU could not come up with a correct answer.

  • This is possibly the stupidest math question I’ve ever seen. The limit of tan x as x approaches 90 is infinity, it’s UNDEFINED by definition. If a math program tells you that it has a value, you should delete it.
