I get an error message when trying to send an e-mail with a rar attachment. Can you help me?-Collection of common programming errors

  • Hello, (ANS) No.1 The actual email address you are trying to send this file too is NOT recognized by the email server (the address is not known). This might be as simple as a dot or dash in the wrong place, i.e. a syntax error or spelling mistake in the address. NOTE: Email addresses have to be written 100% accurately or correct if not sadly there is no margin for error. Its either perfect in which case its gets received or it fails completely or is bounced back to you the sender. No.2 Email services were never designed to send or receive large files such as this. Email attachments were really designed for files about 1 or 2megs above this you would be better off sending large files via the internet’s FTP service and then files are uploaded & downloaded not sent as attachments. ERROR 552 = the email server or network administrator for this domain (network or company) has placed a fixed file attachment size that they will allow or permit. Your .RAR file exceeds the administrators allowed size for attachments and so has been rejected on that basis. **Try to a) brake up the file into several smaller sized file attachments such as x4 2megs .rar files or x2 5meg files. **Better still use FTP to send or receive these files, can easily be done. There are several online share spaces where files can be exchanged in that way. OR you could set up an FTP folder on your homepage space & password protect it and only allow friends access with a private link, etc.

    Kind Regards Ivan
