Compact 3.50 sp1 is not availble/visable to sql management studio or VS 2008-Collection of common programming errors

msdn I have installed/deleted/ reinstalled the x86 and x64 versions of sql 3.5 sp1 compact. Downloaded the whole VS 2008 sp1 and re-installed. I have tried everything I know to install the sql compact database on my Vista sp1 x64 system but it fails to recognized by Visual Studio 2008 server explorer or 2008 sp1 management studio.Where else would I look to figure out why it installs but can’t be accessed. Also I can’t install anything but the x64 server tools, I get a IIS error beore installation on the x86. I’m not sure if you can use just the x64 version of the server tools.-

msdn1 OK the solution I found was to install the sscevstools-enu.msi directly from the service pack .iso disk. The website install and installing the whole service pack has problems that apparently haven’t been fixed but is a reported issue. So download the 800 meg iso, burn a dvd, install the
sscevstools-enu.msi from the vs90sp1 directory off the VS 2008 service pack 1 disk.Easy enough but cost me two days of hunting and trying.

msdn3Thank you.
Your two days of hunting and trying paid off for me. Only a couple of hours.
