How to restore a WindowsImageBackup into a new VMware client?-Collection of common programming errors

I have a WindowsImageBackup (from the builtin windows 7 backup), I need to restore that into a VMclient.

The original client was also on a VMware 5.1 host – I had a database crash, and restoring all now.

What is the procedure I need to take?

How do I know which drives I need to create for the new client? (I don’t remember)

I assume I need to create a new client on the host, and than executre Windows7 recovery CD – but than what?

  • I can see the .vhd files – but not sure the order of them
