Hi,<\/p>\n

I’m totally new to PHP, SQL,\u00a0and web developing in genral.<\/p>\n

I started off with downloading latest versions of PHP, Webmatrix (Webmatrix2)\u00a0and MySQL Server (5.1), and got stuck at the point where I need to use a table (Data Base): for some reason I fail to connect to MySQL.<\/p>\n

  1. I downloaded a PHP-MySQL Connector: http:\/\/dev.mysql.com\/downloads\/connector\/php-mysqlnd\/\u00a0–\u00a0 “MySQL Connector Net 6.5.4”<\/li>\n
  2. In Webmatrix, in the “Databases” Workspace I pressed “New Connection” button and choose “MySQL Connection”<\/li>\n
  3. In the Dialog box I filled-in all connection details<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    –> It looks like the database was added (on the left).<\/p>\n

    But then when I double-click on the database, I get a short error message saying it\u00a0fails to\u00a0connect.<\/p>\n

    I tried everything, searched the web… I’m sure it’s a very simple question, so please whoever can help I’ll be grateful. I think best solution for me would be if someone could please just give me a link to download of: Webmatrix,MySQL,Connector; and instructions on how to install and then how to connect. This would be the safest way to help me.<\/p>\n
