{"id":4016,"date":"2014-03-30T07:12:56","date_gmt":"2014-03-30T07:12:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unknownerror.org\/index.php\/2014\/03\/30\/can-visual-c-2003-run-vb-net-2008-activex-controls-collection-of-common-programming-errors\/"},"modified":"2014-03-30T07:12:56","modified_gmt":"2014-03-30T07:12:56","slug":"can-visual-c-2003-run-vb-net-2008-activex-controls-collection-of-common-programming-errors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unknownerror.org\/index.php\/2014\/03\/30\/can-visual-c-2003-run-vb-net-2008-activex-controls-collection-of-common-programming-errors\/","title":{"rendered":"Can Visual C++ 2003 run VB.NET 2008 ActiveX Controls?-Collection of common programming errors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I developed a few ActiveX controls in VS2008 due to design spec handed down from my lead engineer.\u00a0 Unfortunatly<em>\u00a0<\/em>I need to have these controls running in a Visual C++ 2003 application.<\/p>\n<p>ActiveX Test Container opens the controls fine, MFC blank projects in VS2008 and 2005 allow adding the control, but VS2003 doesn&#8217;t seem to like it.\u00a0 The first error I get is &#8220;ActiveX control &#8220;blah blah blah&#8221; is not registered on this computer&#8221; which pops up twice in a row.\u00a0 This obviously isn&#8217;t the case, since every other way to test and access my control works flawlessly.\u00a0 After OKing out of both errors I immediatly without doing any other actions attempt to add the control the same way as before.\u00a0 Now the error changes to &#8220;The ActiveX control &#8220;blah blah blah&#8221; could not be instantiated&#8221; which again pops twice in a row.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve spent days trying to fix my control and I am starting to suspect that there is a fundamental difference between 2005 and 2003 which is causing my usability problems.\u00a0 If anyone can give insight or thoughts I would be much appreciative.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I developed a few ActiveX controls in VS2008 due to design spec handed down from my lead engineer.\u00a0 Unfortunatly\u00a0I need to have these controls running in a Visual C++ 2003 application.
